I was born in 1941 and have lived in Cullman, Alabama all my life.
I attended Dunroamin for nine years.
Attended Auburn University for two years but dropped out to go to work in our family business (Funeral Home) because I was then married and expecting our first child. Planned on returning to college, but two more kids popped up and never did.
In 1963 I joined the Marine Corps Reserves as an option after receiving my draft notice. I chose six years in the reserves as opposed to a shorter period of commitment to full active duty because of my wife and our first child on the way at the time. We wound up having three children, each born two years apart, and now have 7 grandchildren, three of which are now 18.
We are no longer married but remain close thanks to our kids and wonderful grand kids.
Served 12 years as Cullman County Coroner from 1966 to 1978, have been a member of the local Industrial Development Board for the past 20 years or so and also a member of Merchant’s Bank of Cullman board of directors for 22 years.
When married, my wife and I took up flying in the 70’s, both became licensed but gave it up after a few years because of the risk involved and the fact that we had three young offspring.
My hobby for years now has been scuba diving and underwater photography.
Enjoy passing some time writing short stories for my own amusement.
Will turn 70 in November, but thanks to my love of diving work hard at staying in shape.
